Passive ODN / WHOLESALE RFQ GUIDE
PLC Optical Splitters for FTTH / ODN Projects — 1×8 / 1×16 Specs Checklist & Wholesale RFQ
A PLC (planar lightwave circuit) optical splitter is the passive component that divides one optical signal into multiple ports in GPON/EPON and FTTH / ODN builds. Distributors, ISP contractors and project integrators use it when a comparable wholesale quotation needs more than a split ratio. FIBOVO coordinates China-side supplier quotation from the project specs you send — not a priced stock catalogue.

FIT THE NETWORK, NOT ONLY THE RATIO
When a PLC splitter fits the ODN (and when ratio alone is not enough)
Matching 1×8 or 1×16 on two quotations does not mean the modules are interchangeable. Enclosure space, connector polish, tail length and the remaining link budget decide whether a module can be installed and still meet the PON design.
Single-stage vs cascaded splitting
Single-stage splitting places one PLC close to the OLT or cabinet. Cascaded splitting combines stages (for example 1×4 then 1×8) along the route. Cascading changes total insertion loss and uniformity; treat it as a design choice to document in the RFQ with your target link budget, not as a default catalog SKU.
Enclosure first — FDB / cassette / rack space decides package
Decide the fiber distribution box, cassette frame or rack unit before locking a package name. A steel-tube mini splitter that fits one FDB may not fit another brand’s tray; an ABS module may be too deep for a compact closure. Ask for an outline drawing when the enclosure is already selected.
NAME THE PACKAGE IN THE RFQ
Package types buyers must name in the RFQ
Package labels are commercial shorthand, not universal dimensional standards. Always pair the package name with mounting space or an outline drawing.
Steel tube / mini (blockless)
Compact tubes used inside many FDBs and splice trays. Prefer when space is tight and tails are short. Confirm outer diameter and input/output count against the tray drawing.
ABS module
Boxed modules common in cabinets and larger closures. Easier to label and handle in volume deployments. Confirm height/depth against the cabinet shelf.
Cassette / LGX (and rack only if the frame is already fixed)
Use when the project already standardized on a cassette or LGX frame. Do not assume every “LGX” footprint is identical across vendors — request the outline drawing for the proposed model.
BUILD A COMPARABLE REQUEST
Specs that change a PLC splitter wholesale quotation
| Field | Include in your RFQ |
|---|---|
| Split ratio | State 1×N or 2×N examples you need (1×8, 1×16, 1×32 are common FTTH examples — not a stock claim) and whether splitting is single-stage or cascaded. |
| Package | Steel tube / mini, ABS module, or cassette/LGX, plus available mounting space or outline constraints. |
| Connectors & polish | List connector and polish on every required port (SC/APC or SC/UPC). Never mate APC with UPC. |
| Fiber and tails | Fiber grade, input/output tail lengths and cable diameter. |
| Optical limits | Operating wavelength window and your required insertion-loss, uniformity, return-loss and PDL limits as buyer requirements (not Fibovo product grades). Public catalogue IL figures are industry examples only. |
| Quantity and delivery | Units by configuration, destination country/port, preferred Incoterms (EXW/FOB/CIF as a preference — confirmed in the offer). |
1×8 vs 1×16 vs 1×32 — how to choose
Higher split ratios reach more homes per feeder but leave less optical budget for cable, splices and connectors. Choose from the PON design and measured/planned link budget; put the target ratio and any cascade plan in the RFQ so quotations stay comparable.
SC/APC vs SC/UPC
APC (angled) and UPC (ultra) are not interchangeable. Mixing them causes high reflectance and unstable links. Match the polish already used on your ODF, FDB and patch cords, and specify polish on every PLC port in the RFQ.
HOW TO ENQUIRE
How to send a PLC splitter RFQ to FIBOVO
- Split ratio(s) and single-stage vs cascaded intent
- Package type and enclosure / outline constraints
- Connector and polish on every port
- Fiber grade, tail lengths and diameter
- Wavelength window and your IL / uniformity / RL / PDL limits
- Quantity by configuration, destination, Incoterms preference
- Documents needed (port map, IL table, outline drawing, packing)

Compatibility check
Check the full link loss budget, including splitter stages, connector pairs, splices and cable. A passive splitter does not replace a route survey or PON design. Quote each ratio, package and connector option on separate lines so price and lead time can be compared on the same configuration.

BUYER QUESTIONS
FAQ
- What is a PLC optical splitter and when is it used in FTTH / ODN?
- A PLC optical splitter is a planar lightwave circuit device that passively divides one optical input into multiple outputs. It is used in GPON/EPON and FTTH / ODN networks wherever a feeder must serve many subscriber ports without active amplification at the split point.
- What information should I include in a PLC splitter wholesale RFQ?
- Send split ratio, package type, connector/polish on every port, fiber grade, tail lengths, optical limits (IL/RL/uniformity/PDL as your requirements), quantity by configuration, destination and preferred Incoterms, plus any outline or enclosure constraint.
- ABS, mini, or cassette — which PLC splitter package should I choose?
- Choose from the enclosure you will install into. Mini/steel-tube suits tight FDB trays; ABS modules suit cabinets; cassette/LGX suits standardized frames. Package names are not universal dimensions — request an outline drawing when the enclosure is known.
- 1×8 vs 1×16 vs 1×32 — how do I choose the split ratio?
- Higher ratios serve more ends per feeder but consume more of the optical budget. Select from the PON design and link budget, and state whether splitting is single-stage or cascaded so quotations stay comparable.
- SC/APC or SC/UPC on PLC splitters — which polish do I need?
- Match the polish already used on your plant. APC and UPC must not be mated. Specify polish on every PLC port in the RFQ.
- Can I order PLC splitters together with FDB / splice closures / ADSS cable in one RFQ?
- Yes. Use the project RFQ form and list each family on separate lines (PLC, FDB, closure, ADSS/outdoor cable, drop, patch cords) so supplier checks stay clear. Cross-link hubs: ADSS RFQ guide.
- Do catalog photos confirm a specific supplier model or stock?
- No. Photos on this page are family reference images. Exact model, availability, documents and matching photos are confirmed in the quotation for the selected configuration.
- How do I request a quotation from FIBOVO?
- Open fibovo.com/?product=plc#rfq, or email the public Fibovo addresses / WhatsApp +86 197 0727 6810 with the checklist fields above. We reply with a supplier-checked volume quotation for your project.
