Describe both ends of every patch cord. Connector family, polish, fiber grade, diameter and length determine the configuration; a generic “SC patch cord” request leaves important details unresolved.

| Fiber and assembly | State singlemode/multimode grade, simplex/duplex construction, or whether a pigtail is required. |
| Length | List each length and quantity separately; include any project length tolerance. |
| Jacket and diameter | Specify required jacket material/class, color and diameter, such as a 1.6 mm or 2.0 mm request. |
| Optical performance | State required insertion-loss/return-loss limits and whether individual test results are needed. |
| Adapters | Specify connector family, polish, simplex/duplex layout and mounting form separately. |
Compatibility check
An LC/UPC-to-SC/APC patch cord can connect different port types when each end matches its own mating port. Never mate an APC endface directly to a UPC endface at the same interface.

- Agreed optical test requirements/results
- Labeling, individual packing and applicable documents
Ask which documents are available for the exact proposed model. Certification, test reports and OEM options are confirmed individually.
Make the quotation useful
Send a length-by-connector matrix, not one mixed total. Quote patch cords, pigtails and adapters as separate products.
Include destination country/port, requested date and quantity. Request itemized MOQ, lead time, payment terms and the required EXW, FOB or CIF basis. Freight and any local availability must be confirmed in the offer.
